Memory from Tammi Johnson 1964 – 1978

This post was received through email – Hello Jeff,

My very best childhood memories are from Camp Daniel Boone – playing spoons, table hopping, bug juice, fireside ghost stories and smores, hikes up Marble Creek, to the cave and into the cave.  Then the canoe rides, trying to ski for the first time and failing badly!  My first love was a life guard there when I was 17, and all this was between 1964-1978.  Every Memorial Day weekend, every Labor Day weekend was spent there with the same families coming back year after year, with a few newbies.  One year camp flooded and we all turned out to come and clean it up so they could open for the spring season.  My best buds and I spent a day scrubbing down the pool surface, then sliding down the slope into the deep end.  The chemicals from washing the pool ate through our shorts!  Lucky for us we packed extras.  So many wonderful memories.  I’ll try to find some photos to send.  My friend Lee McClellan from work (KY Dept. of Fish and Wildlife) sent me the link to your site.  So happy to see it!
